When was the last time you visited Dandenong?
Have you ever visited Dandenong?
Where is Dandenong?! I hear you scream!
Just off the Princes Highway about 30 minutes from the CBD of Melbourne, it is an ever expanding suburb and cultural hub, with great food and a market that people travel from far and wide to visit. There is also the Walker Street Gallery which is worth a look.
So… last week I headed there to a sneak preview of the Dandenong Festival of Lights celebrating Chinese Culture.
Right now, until October 18 you can see some spectacular displays of brightly coloured silk lanterns at Greaves Reserve (Dandenong Showgrounds). If you’re looking for something out of the ordinary to do, you will love this. Being quite interested in Sculpture, I was looking closely at the meticulous construction of these large scale works. All the elements play out beautifully. The lights, colour and shapes create a magical, serene atmosphere. There were also some great perfomances on stage and the food was out of this world!
The wine wasn’t bad either:)
Feast your eyes here!
